There are plenty of entertainment options throughout Alberta, ranging from the Calgary Stampede to the National Hockey League to the natural scenic wonders the province has to offer. But it also has a long and storied history of music, home to several festivals and music organizations. As such, there are several options to learn audio engineering and music production.
But how do you know which educational experience is right for you? Sitting in a classroom for a couple of years, taking classes you don’t want, vying for the instructor’s attention, and waiting your turn to get your hands on the equipment. Or maybe you’re looking for something a little more focused, something that will actually help you get a job in the music industry.
The Recording Connection Music School in Alberta offers one-on-one time with a mentor, an industry professional that will teach you the tricks of the trade from their real-world recording studio. It’s an immersive environment that gives you access to the latest gear almost immediately. And you’ll be working with digital audio workstations (Pro Tools, Ableton, Logic) that are used by the top audio engineers, music producers, and artists around the world.
You’ll see how a real recording studio operates, learn how to set up a studio for a session, how your mentor works with clients, and other nuances of the industry that can’t be taught in a traditional setting. The Alberta Recording Connection wants to give you an educational experience that shows you the real world of making music, not just tells you about it.
This includes perhaps the most valuable part of our audio engineering and music production programs: the opportunity to work with others in the industry. Perhaps more than any other type of career, having connections within the business plays a huge role in finding work. With the Recording Connection music schools in Alberta, you will be learning from and working with professionals that are already making a living in the recording industry.
We are an educational institution, however. You’ll still have required readings, homework, and tests throughout the course. But you don’t need prerequisites, you won’t be forced to take classes you don’t want, and you don’t have to show up at 8 a.m. every Monday morning. Unless you want to: You’ll work with your mentor and an Academic Facilitator to develop a curriculum that best suits your needs.
This means you won’t have to turn your world upside down to attend the Recording Connection music program in Alberta. We understand you have a job to pay the bills, family commitments, and other “life” circumstances. We’ll work with you on your schedule if you show us you have the determination and responsibility to put your best foot forward.
Our programs aren’t for those looking to make a few beats during the weekend with their buddies. This is real life, our mentors are working professionals that are willing to train the next generation of audio engineers and music producers. If building a career in the music industry is where you want to be, the Recording Connection music courses in Alberta can help make it happen.
