Music Industry Jobs Recording Connection Graduates Get | Joseph Macuso, Colorado

In addition to graduating from the Recording Connection and my prior experience, I’ve been a DJ for about five years. I’m currently a resident of the Church Nightclub and Vinyl Nightclub here in Denver. I’ve had the opportunity to play at Beta Nightclub which was recently ranked the number one club in the United States.

Just last year, I got to open up Global Dance Festival at Red Rocks, which is a really funny story because the person who ended up being the person recording the entire show from a mobile studio truck was my mentor, Jessie O’Brian. That was the first time that I’d gotten to see him since graduating from the program. So that was a really cool experience, getting to see my mentor while playing at Red Rocks.

Just before joining the program, I had done a remix for a Dead Mouse remix competition on Beat Port [sp], and ended up getting selected as a top ten semifinalist out of about 800 submissions. I collaborated with local artist Dragon to remix Canadian-based Adam Kay, J. Scott G., who is from a group called Deep Sky and has his music in video games like “Grand Torismo”, I collaborated with him to do a remix of the band Shiny Toy Guns that’s going to be coming out on the UK release of their album.

I did a remix of Animotion’s “Obsession” from the “Grand Theft Auto: Vice City” soundtrack that ended up getting promoted on their website. I also did a viral video called “Day Man’s Step” which was a remix of “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” that recently just broke the million marker in terms of hits on YouTube. So I’ve managed to do a lot of stuff since graduating from the Recording Connection and I definitely attribute the program to a lot of the successes that I’ve had.

I also recently got hired by Beat Port Sounds to Sample to do sample packs for their website, which entails creating kicks, snares, high hats, drum loops, mini loops, synth presets all to be sold to other aspiring producers on their website. So that’s what I’m doing these days.
