“My third lesson wa a big one and held alot of detail and information. The lesson was on Digital Audio Basics. There is alot to learn about sample rates, quantizing, a sound wave, and the Nyquist frequency. I am learning alot very quickly and I am eager to learn more. All the information is very interesting to me and it is cool that I get to see it first hand in the studio. I also sat in on a third session in my third week. The session was a blend of hip-hop and heavy metal. It was a great session and I was fortunate enough to meet a member of Mushroom Head, the band. Sitting in on these sessions allow me to fully grasp the music environment and get a feel for the industry. All of my mentor’s clients are really cool people and you can learn alot from them. It is the opportunity of a life time.”

"I had a great time, the people that work at my studio are very nice and helpful. What I liked the most about this particular lesson is the way my mentor broke it down to me and gave me information not only on the studio level, but the home studio level as well. He gave me tips and ideas to try in my own studio at my house. I enjoyed the information I got from the studio and I am practicing their advice at my own home studio."

Take a step in the right direction for your career.

“I recently learned about studio design and some other cool stuff. Everything is going great and im looking forward to my next lesson.”

“Today was my fist day at the studio. We quickly went on an overview of the studio, checking out all the sound rooms and the storage placement of the equipment. We talked about the career opportunities in the recording field and the many positions that go into running a professional studio. The introduction was very informative and helpful I’m looking forward to my next lesson.”

"2. So yesterday when I went to the studio, I thought it was going to be a regular day. You know, do my lesson… get in the studio and work on pro tools or somebody's track to practice my craft. But yesterday, people from Interscope Records along with OG Domino (From California) came through. And man was it an experience! To be in the same studio with Interscope Producer Maestro Turner and to talk to Interscope Promoters was a very valuable experience for me. On top of that, I got to witness them in the studio doing what they do. I got to witness their work ethic and I took mental notes. These guys love what they do. Even though they make a lot of money and have been in the business for a long time, they still dressed like regular people and they encouraged me to chase the dream I'm after. 7solo was there as well (the owner of the record label) and he gave me some valuable advice on how to set up my foundation. I'm already getting my logo done and about to get my website created. He told me to get all my licensing and copy writes out of the way now. So when the take comes, I can just do what I have to do. He gave me his number, his website, and access to his DJ's and Tour Managers."

Learn Pro Tools from a seasoned professional.

“I did lesson 9 with joey and it was a breeze. He explained the ProTools file lay out to its fullest. He explained the different types of formats audio can be saved under. Joey also taught me the shortcuts on the key board. I felt after this lesson like i was an audio pro. Can’t wait until my next lesson.”

Learn Mixing and Producing as you work with talented artists.

“Over this course, I have learned a lot and have a better idea of how everything works. The way I look at audio, the way I listen to audio is different now. I always wanted to learn ProTools and I am excited that got that opportunity to do so. I know I am far from mastering ProTools but I know I am headed the right direction. I am grateful for this opportunity and willing to learn more about ProTools and audio engineering. This course, mentor, studio, and school has been very helpful throughout the whole process. Also one of my goals was to have connections within the industry and I have through my mentor studio. Looking forward to mixing and producing for my final mix with a band!”

Continue to delve into hands-on work with the professionals in the recording industry.

"The rest of the class was spent being enthralled by Mike’s buddy Brian on the keyboard. Very talented artist and I was blown away at the originality of his music. It was very well constructed and very full and just a great experience. I’m forever getting more excited about where I’m headed and days like make me wonder what kinds of interesting people I’ll meet or what new styles of music I’ll hear and hopefully be inspired by. It was a good day."

“After the lesson I interned for a bit. With my mentor, I sat down on another mixing session with a previous rapper I’ve met before, it was a good vibe and done quickly.”
