“This is one of the first lessons where I got a lot more hands on in the Studio. They took one of each of the three types of mics and recorded me playing the guitar with each. I got to see how the different polar patterns were capturing the sound of the guitar and how each sounded different. We also went over the different areas you can record on the guitar either in the sound hole (which could cause something called “proximity effect” which gives a boost to the low end), frets, or the bridge. Afterwards they let me record anything I wanted on my own which was a little confusing at first but I was able to get it at the end and worked faster. Overall it was a really fun time at the studio and the chapter was very informative on the different types of microphones.”
