Blake LaGrange graduated in 2009 from Recording Connection under mentor Steve Weatherbee of Golden Track Studio, San Diego. “If you are already doing what you love and you go through the program using the resources at Recording Connection, you can succeed,” Blake said during a visit to Los Angeles Center Studios this week. Blake comes from a place of personal experience, as he currently owns and operates two of his own studios with a focus on EDM music.

Your Waterbury, Connecticut
Recording School Alternative
Can you break into the music industry from Waterbury, Connecticut? With the RECORDING CONNECTION, you can! We’re the audio engineering school that gets you in the door of a real Waterbury recording studio, where you will study as an apprentice (extern) under the guidance of a world-class music producer or audio engineer to train for a career in your choice of music production, audio engineering, mixing, live audio, electronic music-and its many sub-genres (dub fusion, industrial, house music, trance and more), club DJ and post production audio. In Waterbury, CT, there’s no better way to get involved in the music industry than by apprenticing in a real recording studio—and we’re the school that makes it happen.
You could easily spend 50 thousand dollars or more to learn audio engineering in a college or traditional trade school, but why spend all that money to sit in a classroom when you could learn in a real recording studio for much less? Take it from the pros: your best bet for breaking into this business is to learn on-the-job from people who are doing it for a living, because you can make important industry connections as you learn the ropes. No school can prepare you for a music industry career more effectively or affordably than our Waterbury audio engineering school.
Hosting a population of just over 110,000 along the banks of the Naugatuck River, Waterbury, CT earned its nickname “The Brass City” due to its prominence in brass manufacturing during the first half of the 20th century. Today, Waterbury is known for its historic buildings, diverse neighborhoods and small-town vibe, even while maintaining an active music scene that remains connected to the greater New York City metro area.
The Waterbury area is also home to a number of high quality recording studios servicing the music needs of the area. In fact, one of our top Recording Connection mentors is a Grammy-winning producer whose studio is in Waterbury. Even more, Waterbury is a short drive or train ride away from New York City itself, one of the largest music industry hubs on the planet. This means that if you want to break into the music industry as a music producer or audio engineer while still avoiding the chaos of the big city, Waterbury, CT might be the perfect place for you to learn.
The Recording Connection advantage is our mentor-apprentice teaching approach. We think it’s ludicrous to put you in a classroom with a bunch of other students to teach you audio engineering, so instead, we put you where the action is happening: in a real recording studio, where you learn one-on-one from an actual working music professional who knows the business inside and out. While you are learning on-the-job, you’ll also have the chance to form valuable connections with other music professionals—connections that can lead to ongoing relationships and future work in the industry.
Does our program work? Just the 70 percent of Recording Connection graduates who now have successful music industry careers! You could be next, but you have to take the first step. Enroll in our Waterbury recording school today, and let us get you in the door of a real studio right away.
We get our students jobs.
Of Our Graduates Get
Jobs in the Music Business
Our outstanding job placement rate is no accident. We are able to achieve this high mark because our graduates have trained inside a working recording studio. This gives our students excellent hands-on skills, real-world job experience, and the industry connections and references that just aren’t available on a school campus. Additionally, we have a very proactive Stay Connected Job Assistance Program that serves as our graduates’ advocate in the job market for up to a year after course completion. When we say we’re connected with the music business, we mean it.Read our student success stories.
