Recording Connection in Norfolk, Portsmouth, and Newport News offers a unique educational opportunity for aspiring music industry professionals. Rather than lecture-based learning in a classroom setting, the Recording Connection pairs students with a mentor in a professional recording studio. This allows students to gain real-world experience and knowledge while working on actual projects. With 300 locations across the U.S., remote learning opportunities, and costs that are less than what you find at four-year universities, this is a win-win-win-win-win-etc.

HOW IT WORKS

Access, Skills, Variety

The Recording Connection also provides access to industry-standard equipment and software, so that students can learn using the same tools that they will use in their careers. In addition, our program offers up to one year of job placement assistance after finishing a program so that students can start their careers in the music industry with a strong foundation. Simply put: Recording Connection is an excellent choice for anyone who wants to pursue a career in the music industry.

Our music production externships are designed to give students the skills and experience they need to work in the recording industry. Students in the program will learn how to work with artists, operate recording equipment, and produce professional-quality recordings. The program is taught by experienced industry professionals, and students will have the opportunity to work with state-of-the-art equipment in the college’s state-of-the-art recording studio.

Career Opportunities and Challenges

Once the program is complete, students will be prepared to pursue careers as sound engineers, music producers, and more. The program also costs less than traditional schooling. We provide a hands-on learning experience. The students are able to learn at their own pace and complete the program at their convenience. The school offers a variety of courses that can be completed in a relatively short amount of time. Finally, the program is flexible. It allows students the opportunity to work with mentors during certain hours of the day to more easily fit sessions into their schedules. Students are challenged, make no mistake. But the challenges come in a welcoming and encouraging environment.

A career in the music production business can be both rewarding and challenging. One of the most important aspects of any successful career is developing strong relationships with mentors and other professionals in the industry. These relationships can provide invaluable insights, advice, and opportunities for networking. As a producer or sound engineer, you’ll have the opportunity to develop relationships with mentors and other professionals who can help you learn more about the industry and advance your career. In addition to learning from their experience, you’ll also benefit from their connections and resources. FAQs

You won’t be placed in a crowded classroom, for one thing. We put you in a real recording studio with a mentor who teaches you one-on-one. We also cost significantly less than those other programs, too. So you get more for less!

We were founded in 1983, and since then, we’ve worked to help keep students out of debt. Our goal: to find a program that fits your budget and keeps you out of debt. We also strive to keep our program affordable. We could charge much more, and it would be worth the price. However, we keep prices low as part of our mission to keep students either debt-free or to keep any debt manageable.

That depends. It varies a great deal, and it largely depends on you. Arts and entertainment careers require artists to pay their dues, right? That may mean you make less when you’re just starting out. However, as we stated above, our emphasis on providing quality programs at affordable prices could also mean you won’t be struggling to pay off student debt on low wages.
