As it turns out, Fort Collins is also home to a thriving independent music scene, fueled in part by the presence of Colorado State University, with bands and artists from many different genres performing in venues across the city, and even drawing talent from nearby Denver. Every spring, the Fort Collins Music Experiment (FoCoMx) features hundreds of local bands in dozens of Fort Collins venues, and in late summer, Bohemian Nights at NewWestFest takes over the historic downtown with lots of local music offered free and open to the public.
