Recording Connection is:
audio education upgraded for the 21st century
Watch to learn why:
Called “The Hub” because of its central location in Los Angeles County, Compton occupies just over 10 square miles. Anthony Anderson was born here, Kevin Costner grew up here, and area high schools produced athletes such as NBA all-star DeMar DeRozan and NFL Super Bowl Champion Richard Sherman.
But it was N.W.A. that put Compton on the map for most of the United States. “Straight Outta Compton” is widely regarded as one of the most influential albums in the history of hip hop. The album was recently added to the National Recording Registry by the Library of Congress for its cultural significance. The 2015 American biographical drama Straight Outta Compton enabled today’s millennials to see what inspired the group’s lyrics and witness how they went on to change hip-hop forever.
While the album reflected what it was like to grow up in gang- and drug-infested streets of Compton, the album soon found its way to the suburbs. Solo albums, acting, and producing followed as the former N.W.A. crew members began their entertainment domination. Dr. Dre has a reported worth of over $770 million.
Kendrick Lamar, Coolio, The Game, Suge Knight, and DJ Quik were all born here and took the road paved by N.W.A. Want to follow in their footsteps? The Recording Connection in Compton will give you access to a real-world studio, working one-on-one with an industry professional.
Unlike a traditional classroom, you’ll experience what it’s like to make audio engineering and music producing a career firsthand inside a studio. You’ll see the ins and outs of the music industry, up close and personal, just the way so many of our students have by working with local artists and touring acts.
With hip hop, beat-making, and Live DJ programs, Recording Connection will give you the opportunity to learn about the many facets of the music industry. From how to properly set up a microphone to final mixing and mastering, your classroom will be the studio.
And while we give you the opportunity, you have to be willing to put in the work. Our most successful students never stop learning, even off the clock, and they cultivate relationships with their mentors. Drive and determination – not drama – can position you to do big things.
With Recording Connection, you don’t have to be in the big city to do it. Why travel to L.A. when you have access to the same experience and equipment that can be found in Compton? Ready to turn your music hobby into something more? Apply to Recording Connection today and we’ll get you started.
