Lesson 21 – Mastering

Mastering is the art of sweetening the mix and preparing the mix down for duplication. Mastering often takes an elevated set of ears that can discern and hear very subtle sonic intricacies that make up certain sounds and effects. These listening skills take time to develop. In this lesson, we put you on the right path to developing your sonic tastes and mastering abilities. Your mentor is another key resource to help you become acquainted in this specialized craft.

Objectives:

Be able to describe what is mixing and mastering.
Be able to translate what are the different formats of mastering.
Be able to demonstrate the function of mastering.
Be able to differentiate the correct mastering method from incorrect methods.
Be able to explain the difference between all mastering methods.
Be able to explain in what situation you would use mastering.
