The Recording Connection's
Educational Model is Unique.

from an Industry Professional.

The music industry doesn’t run on a 40-hour workweek. It doesn’t work during normal business hours. And it isn’t dependent on a piece of paper that says you went to a school for four years that put you into six-figure-debt. That’s why Recording Connection was created. We’re a non-traditional educational institution preparing you for a marketplace that’s anything but standard.

We put you in the middle of the action on day one. Instead of a classroom, we put you in a professional recording studio. Instead of a professor, we give you one-on-one access to a professional audio engineer or music producer. Instead of working with dated gear, we put you in front of the latest digital audio workstations. Instead of four years and up to $150,000 in tuition costs, our programs last six to nine months and cost just a fraction of those "name" universities.

We are unique, bold, out-of-the-box thinkers; and after over 3 decades of service — we have the formula that produces the most hire-able graduates.

It may surprise you to learn that we’ve been offering remote learning for years. So if you want to learn music production from a mentor in New York who’s worked with everyone from They Might Be Giants to Dr. Dre, The Killers to 50 Cent, with us it’s well within your reach.

If training remotely with an artist/producer who works with Snoop Dogg, Sony Music and has numerous independent projects going in Los Angeles sounds more like your vibe, we can do that too. We can pair you with a mentor anywhere in the city, the state, or the country! In person or online and one-on-one, you can get direct mentorship. When you have a question, all you have to do is ask. Never suffer through a pointless tutorial again.

Recording Connection Locations

Stay Close to Home. Why leave your family and friends if you don’t have to, or, take a walk on the wild side and move to your favorite city or town?

But you won’t have to move across the country to do it. We want to make our audio engineering and music production programs as accessible as possible. Why should you have to travel hundreds, or even thousands, of miles to sit in a classroom? With more than 250 locations throughout the US and Canada, you’re never too far from a Recording Connection mentor and their studio.

And even if you are, we still have you covered. While so many other institutions scrambled during the pandemic, Recording Connection has been offering remote learning for decades. We understand you have a life and commitments that may keep you from being mobile. Our "virtual" studios were made specifically for you.

You’ve got to put in your effort. You have to show the studio you’re actually going to show up, you’re going to be there, you’re going to work hard, and you know your stuff.

Our Approach to Education

We are not like ordinary audio or trade schools. We don’t waste your time in classrooms. This is the world of audio. Everything you need to know should be taught in the real world. We are unique, out-of-the-box thinkers. After over 3 decades service—we have the formula that works:

Private Mentor in Professional Recording Studio
Faculty: Private Academic Facilitator
Online, Interactive Curriculum
Meaningful Industry Connections
Hands-on Learning in a Recording Studio (Not a College Classroom)

A Recipe forSuccess!

Learn from The Best

Work with those producing hit records right now.

Our mentors have won Grammys, Emmys, and Oscars. They’ve produced records that dominated the charts. Collectively, they’ve made billions of dollars all over the world. Their studios welcome the biggest names in hip hop, pop, and rock and roll. With Recording Connection, you could be working with them, too.

And they aren’t engineering or producing on school-licensed gear, either. The pros who mentor with us work on the most up to date digital audio workstations like Ableton Live, Pro Tools, and others, and often have instruments amassed over years of being in the industry, and thousands of plug-ins at the ready. With state of the art consoles, the clearest monitors, and a mic for every occasion, with Recording Connection, you’re stepping into the real world.

Make Industry Connections

Consider this an audition for your mentor, their clients, and other music producers.

It’s a cliché, but it’s true: Who you know is as important as what you know. In a traditional school setting, you may get a guest speaker every once in a while. With Recording Connection, you could be working with a local up and comer, touring superstar, or regional staple at any given time. After signing up for six figures of debt, who will you be working with at a four-year university?

Or you may be asked to clean up around the studio. No matter what you’re doing, just think of it as a six-to-nine-month job interview. The music industry doesn’t require a suit and tie, but it does demand responsibility, determination, and the ability to read a room. With us, nearly everybody you meet is a potential employer or client. When they think of you, what will they think?

Be in Charge of Your Future

Make yourself necessary.

We can’t guarantee you’ll find a job once your program is over. But we can tell you about the more than 25,000 externs who found work after completing their time with our mentors. They all shared common traits: showing up on time, absorbing as much information as they could, and improving themselves both inside and outside of the studio.

Many of our grads have been hired by the mentors they learned under. Others have moved on to other studios based on their portfolio of work they created during the programs. A few students even took what they learned about securing clients and opened their own studios.

There were even instances of students getting hired by touring acts in the middle of a program! These are the opportunities that can present themselves to students that put in the work. And we offer job-placement services for up to a year after graduation. How many other institutions are as concerned about you finding a job? We put you in a position to be seen and keep you out of debt.

You Won't Be On Your Own

We support you during—and after—our programs.

In a class of 30, it’s easy to get lost in the churn. With the Recording Connection, your teachers outnumber you! Along with the non-stop facetime with your mentor, you’ll be assigned an Academic Facilitator to help with your scheduling, get your computer up to speed, and download study materials.

This is a learning environment after all. But instead of telling you what prerequisites you need, when you need to show up, and which teachers you have to take, we’ll work with you to customize a program that fits your situation. Music is your life, but we understand you still have those daily responsibilities.
