"For my first lesson with my mentor, we went over sound and hearing and its meaning to music. I learned the three major steps in engineering, which are recording, overdubbing, and final mixing. The next day, I went into my mentors’ studio and witnessed an overdubbing session on a religious based album. A fellow owner, producer and session guitarist laid down a beautiful slide guitar solo on one song. I also met, as well as observed, a session pianist. As I was leaving my mentors’ studio for the day, I met the lead vocalist coming into the studio to record, who was very nice to me. I mentioned her album sounded nice and she thanked me and wished me well. My initial thoughts were that my mentor is very knowledgeable, as well as well respected locally.
