Quotes from students near Topeka, KS
Work with your mentors’ clientele.
"For my first lesson with my mentor, we went over sound and hearing and its meaning to music. I learned the three major steps in engineering, which are recording, overdubbing, and final mixing. The next day, I went into my mentors’ studio and witnessed an overdubbing session on a religious based album. A fellow owner, producer and session guitarist laid down a beautiful slide guitar solo on one song. I also met, as well as observed, a session pianist. As I was leaving my mentors’ studio for the day, I met the lead vocalist coming into the studio to record, who was very nice to me. I mentioned her album sounded nice and she thanked me and wished me well. My initial thoughts were that my mentor is very knowledgeable, as well as well respected locally. Plus, he has little tips that make learning easier. I also truly appreciate the interest the Recording Connection has shown. The reading provided to me from the Recording Connection is very interesting and there is a definite need to know material. I also think the studio I am assigned to apprentice with is set up well, especially the design and soundproofing, and not to mention, they are working with clients’ consistently."
