Blake LaGrange graduated in 2009 from Recording Connection under mentor Steve Weatherbee of Golden Track Studio, San Diego. “If you are already doing what you love and you go through the program using the resources at Recording Connection, you can succeed,” Blake said during a visit to Los Angeles Center Studios this week. Blake comes from a place of personal experience, as he currently owns and operates two of his own studios with a focus on EDM music.

Home to West Virginia University, the city of Morgantown is located near the Pennsylvania border in northern West Virginia, anchoring a metro area of around 120,000 people. Although not a place many people associate with the music business in general, Morgantown hosts its own music scene, fueled in part by the university itself, with numerous bands and artists playing styles ranging from country to indie-rock to hip-hop in venues around town. One of the more popular local venues is 123 Pleasant Street, which offers live music most nights of the week. Other music hotspots include Rhythm and Brews and the Blue Moose Cafe.
To accommodate the musical activity in Morgantown, a number of recording studios make their home in this area. If you are considering a career in audio as a recording engineer, live audio engineer or music producer, Morgantown holds plenty of opportunity for you to learn.
