Located in northern Ohio along the southern shores of Lake Erie, the city of Cleveland is home to nearly half a million people. This city is rich in musical history. Not only does Cleveland claim to be the site of the first-ever rock concert, but Cleveland DJ Alan Freed is credited with coining the term 'rock & roll.' Not surprisingly, Cleveland is also the site for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Notable bands and artists hailing from the Cleveland area include R&B artist Avant, popular pianist Jim Brickman, O'Jays founder Eddie LaVert, and industrial rock band Nine Inch Nails, to name a few.

Cleveland's musical legacy continues today with an active music scene supporting a diversity of genres, with both local and touring bands playing at an array of live music venues, and numerous recording studios accommodating the needs of the music community.  If you are considering a career in audio as a recording engineer, live audio engineer or music producer, you'll find plenty to keep you busy in Cleveland.

The secret to RECORDING CONNECTION's success, and our advantage over other audio engineering schools, is our mentor-apprentice approach. Along the way, you'll make important industry contacts that can lead to future work. Learn all the equipment needed to create your very own home studio.

“It was my first time this week over at my mentors’ home studio. Needless to say, I was impressed with all his equipment. He had a very nice digital console, I/O, Patch bay, 4 Pre-amps, and a Compressor, as well as his amazing Vocal Booth. He showed me the differences between Tube Microphones with the Telefunken, Condenser Microphones, and Ribbon Microphones. At the beginning of the lesson I was informed my mentors’ I-Lok was broken, so we first headed over to the news station to see a professional fix it, which was fixed in a speedy ten minutes. It was really cool to see all the sound equipment they had at the station as well. We than came back to my mentors’ home studio to finish our lesson. The lesson was short, but sweet, and very hands-on. We looked at a lot of Microphones and I learned a little bit more about the things I want to put into my own home studio.”

Learn the fundamentals of the Recording industry.

“Yesterday my mentor and I officially moved into the second week of the Recording Connection program, discussing the Digital Audio Basics. This was very interesting and I really learned a lot of new things. For example, how sounds travel, the job of a microphone, as well as the change in the air pressure and electrical voltage. I also learned a sample rate is a sample per second, which I never knew until my training this week with my mentor. This week was a great one in the studio and I can't wait to get back in and do some work. Right now I am learning the basics, which is very important and good. Before the Recording Connection I didn’t know music was and engineering was so deep.”
