Top Recording Schools

With music in the sad state that it is in, the world is looking for the next talented producer, technician, editor, and sound engineer to create something that the entire world can enjoy. Being in the music industry and working in recording is a great job, one that may even earn you fame or fortune. There could be no better time than now to start, when the music industry is scrambling to find someone new, someone who can do a great job and produce good music once again. Those who think attending top recording schools will benefit them may be wrong, it may be just better to try and get a job, and intern or apprentice in a recording studio.

Apprenticing and interning at a recording studio are your best options if you want to have a job in the recording field one day. First of all, instead of spending time in a dusty classroom, you will be spending time learning in a real recording studio, gathering experience, knowledge, and connections. Employers will value that far more than any diploma you have. 

The problem with top recording schools is that no one in the music industry will ask you for a diploma. If you are competent, if you can work, learn, and be a likeable person, that will get you much father in the job department. The issue with this is that many students are afraid to waste the money on recording school now, because it is very expensive, and will not be able to impact your future in the industry. In fact, tuition for most of these recording schools can cost around $100,000, and the education you receive in a classroom is very sub-par to the education you might receive out on the field, for many different reasons.

For one, most recording schools do not have up-to-date equipment, and not having current equipment for the students to practice on can greatly hinder them in the future. The other problem is that professors in colleges have not been working in the field for many years, and they cannot explain to their classes what the actual job will be like, or what the job market is like now. Also, schools often have their own requirements, and students will have to waste most of the four years they spend in school taking classes that do not even relate to their field of study or desired job.

There are many issues with top recording schools, and many students are deciding that going to school is not at all beneficial for them, and deciding on alternative programs.
