How to Learn Music Producing

November 18, 2011

The best way to learn to record music is to get yourself an education. Naturally, there are several ways to go about doing this.

You can get this education by going to a college or university. There are many fine programs around the country that will teach you what you need to know to record music.  Be aware that unless the school you choose is in your home town, you will need to relocate. Expenses in relocation can be high. You have to find a place to live, and pay for food. Don’t forget the cost of tuition as well.

You might choose an online school which is also a fine choice. However, building a sound proof studio in your parent’s basement might prove difficult.  If you live in an apartment, this might not even be feasible. Then too you need equipment to learn on. This can also be a bit expensive.  Some of the online schools do have a virtual sound board you can learn on. While this may be better than nothing, there are other ways.

Still if you want to learn what you need to break into the field of music recording, there is another possibility.

Recording Connection Audio Institute is different than many others in that the school has made an agreement with many recording studios around the world to teach the art of audio engineering in a one on one, mentorship program.  At the Recoding Connection, you will be partnered with a Recording industry professional at a recording studio that might even be in your neighborhood.

Among the classes you will have with your instructor mentor are: Introduction to sound and hearing, digital audio basics, introduction to the console, and a final practical exam.

Learning in this environment is completely different than any other school. You are not sitting in classroom taking notes, listening to a professor talk endlessly. Instead you are in the studio using the equipment to make music. You can even bring in a band for extra credit, and produce a song.

This school gives you a chance to get to know your instructor, which makes it easier to learn. You will be using the equipment that he or she uses every day, and that you yourself will use in your career.

You learn by doing using the equipment your instructor mentor uses every day. This is the same equipment you will use in your career.
