Entertainment Career Mentor

An entertainment career mentor would be the best choice for anyone looking to work in the entertainment industry. Many young people grow up dreaming of working for entertainment, perhaps in the music, radio, or film departments. Having a successful career in any of these industries is very difficult, because getting noticed and getting a job is very difficult. Directors in the entertainment industry are notorious for dismissing newcomers, and only hiring based on people they know. It is not at all like any traditional field, so traditional education will not get someone far in this business.

The entertainment industry looks down on those with college degrees and are not at all prone to hiring them. Colleges do not teach students how to be a director or a music producer, instead, colleges teach students about films, or musicology. While this is important to know, it will do nothing to help you get hired.

Not to mention that traditional colleges are very time consuming (four years) and expensive. Most people who are looking to get a job do not have four years to spend in school. People need jobs, and they need them now, not in four years. Plus, there is no guarantee of a college student even getting a job. College used to be able to pay for itself once the student graduated and began their career, but this is no longer the case. Students with degrees have spend a lot of time and money, and wind up working in fast-food joints, or small companies. In addition to being time consuming, college tuition can sometimes cost as much as $100,000, which is something most people just cannot afford. Going to class and studying can also be very time consuming, and many students wind up losing hours or quitting their jobs all together to do better in school, so many also have to take a cut in income.

In the entertainment industry, only those who are known get hired. By working with an entertainment career mentor, students get the opportunity to make those all important connections that they will need to get a job, or even an interview. Students also get to know the technology they will be using first hand. This is very important to most employers, because they do not have the time or resources to teach people how to do their job. An entertainment career mentor will make sure the student completes the Recording Connection curricular and assignments, because also unlike an internship, there is regulation of what things each person must go over.
