CLEVELAND MUSIC RECORDING SCHOOL

CLEVELAND, OHIO is the 17th largest DMA in the U.S.
It is home to the Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame as well as the Baseball
Hall of Fame in nearby Canton. One-time Cleveland DJ, Alan Freed,
is widely credited with coining the phrase "rock and roll" to describe
the new form of music that was taking over the airwaves.
Cleveland was the location of the first rock and roll concert, the
Moondog Coronation Ball in 1952. Fittingly, the authorities shut
it down after the first song.
Cleveland musical roots don’t stop there. The city is the home of
rap group Bone Thugs-n-Harmony. Eric Carmen and his band, The
Raspberrie as well as R&B groups the Dazz Band and The Rude Boys,
and R&B singer Avant. Cleveland was also home to protopunk bands
Electric Eels, Pere Ubu, and Rocket From the Tombs. Over 35
AM and FM stations that call Cleveland home, and dozens of other
stations, from elsewhere in Northeastern Ohio, can be heard in
Cleveland.
