ALTERNATIVE

BALTIMORE, MARYLAND is the 24th largest DMA in the U.S.  It is the 17th largest market as measured by music sales.  Home to both the Baltimore Orioles of MLB and the Baltimore Ravens of the NFL, the city is entering the final stages of an ongoing downtown renewal effort of which the Orioles’ Camden Park was pivotal.  Francis Scott Key wrote the Star Spangled Banner about the American flag waving over Baltimore’s Ft. McHenry.  F. Scott Fitzgerald made his home here for a while, and Tender is the Night was published during his stay.

Babe Ruth,  John Waters, Billie Holiday, Thurgood Marshall, Wallace Simpson the Duchess of Windsor, Johnny Unitas, Stacey Keibler, Parker Posey, Montel Williams and David Hasselhoff are some of the celebrities who were born in Baltimore.  Edgar Alan Poe died there.  Baltimore was the starting point of the first railroad line in the U.S.  And Baltimore is home to some great clubs and music venues: Coburn's Tavern, The Depot, Sonar, Mosaic Lounge, Grand Central, Club Charles, Ottobar, Rams Head Live, Funk Box, Baltimore chop, New Haven Lounge and Sidebar Tavern.

Obviously, there are plenty of opportunities for careers in music and audio recoring and music producing in the Baltimore area.  The RECORDING CONNECTION, with its unique mentor/apprentice method of teaching students the necessary skills in a hands-on, real-world job environment--an actual, working recording studio--enables our students to learn while doing.  RECORDING CONNECTION students gain valuable experience and industry connections in the process and when it comes to a career in the music and recording business, this is the edge you need to get ahead.

Lately my mentor and I have been doing tracking, well, I'm watching and he's talking me thru it and same with mixing. We're trying to get my ears used to the different types of EQ's and such. Mic my first band. Took three hours but it was pretty cool. The reason it took so long was because my mentor wanted to try something new. Of course we had some bugs but the band dug it and he seemed pretty happy. I ran around alot so I was too tired to enjoy it.  My mentor let me handle the scratch track which was nerve-racking. So I winged it and turned out fine.
