ATLANTA MUSIC RECORDING SCHOOL

ATLANTA, GEORGIA is the 9th largest
DMA in the U.S. As the original headquarters and still pivotal
player in Ted Turner’s media conglomerate of MGM, CNN, TBS and TNT, as
well as home to Coca Cola, the Atlanta Braves, Hawks and Falcons, and
over 30 institutes of higher learning including Georgia Tech.
If you had to pick one word to describe Atlanta's music scene, you
would have to choose HOT! Atlanta is the 8th largest music
sales market in the country. No wonder Atlanta’s thriving music
industry is home to many famous R&B and hip-hop musicians.
The Dirty South style of hip-hop emerged in part from Atlanta artists
such as Outkast and Goodie Mob. More recently, rapper/producer
Lil Jon has been a driving force behind the party-oriented style known
as crunk. In the late 80’s L.A. Reid and Babyface founded LaFace
Records which is home Toni Braxton, TLC, OutKast, Goodie Mob,
Monica, Usher and Ciara, among others. So So Def Records, founded
by Jermaine Dupri in the mid-1990s, also calls Atlanta home with a
roster that includes Da Brat, Jagged Edge, Xscape and Dem Franchise
Boyz. Atlanta is also home to multi-platinum rappers
Ludacris and T.I. Other home grown artists include The Black
Crowes, Sevendust, sludge Mastodon, Treephort, Swimming Pool Q's,
Uncle Green (a.k.a 3 Lb. Thrill), Light Pupil Dilate, Big Fish
Ensemble, Collective Soul and Third Day, the Indigo Girls, Butch
Walker. Keyshia Cole, Bow Wow, B5, Phife Dawg, and Brian
Littrell of the Backstreet Boys have moved to the city and made it
their home.
